The overhaul of SacForums.com has resulted in a change in how the Events Calendar system works. In my opinion, it’s a bit easier.
To add an event to the calendar, simply click on “Calendar” at the top, click the appropriate button to add either a recurring or single event, and enter the event details. You will no longer need to select the Events forum to post your event in as the new system will automatically post it in the Events forum for you. The posts in the Event forum will not use your username, but rather the username “Calendar,” which will copy the information you entered in the Calendar. The copied post will contain a link to the Calendar item.
Please note that the posts in the Events forum may not show up right away, as it depends on the time of day and when the Calendar’s feed is imported.

It’s been a long couple weeks… Actually, it’s been longer than that, but I’ve been working on the actual forum conversion for over a week and I’m finally at a place where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, this site is a constant work in progress, but my checklist is getting smaller on a daily basis.
There are still several issues that still need to be addressed, so this won’t be the official announcement listing all that’s new. But, be assured that there are extensive changes, from the new design and logo to the new forum script, which still needs to be integrated into the new design. I hope you enjoy everything the new site has to offer!
Please feel free to explore, see what’s new, kick the tires, and let me know if you find any major problems.

The site overhaul has taken longer than expected, specifically the forum conversion. While the database has been converted from the current (old) forum, the new forum needs to be moved over from the test environment.
The old forum is closed. Please note that if you registered and/or posted after the database was backed up and before the forum was closed, you will need to re-register/re-post. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I’ll post updates here and on Twitter, so keep an eye out for the relaunch announcement.
If you’re reading this blog, then you know that I’m busy with the site overhaul, or it’s complete. Either way, you’ll see the new design and should have access to the new forum. Please comment here, or in the feedback forum if you see anything that needs to be fixed.

There are quite a few updates/changes coming this week and, obviously, this blog is one… And, if you’ve been to SacForums.com before, you’ll definitely notice the new design and logo. This is pretty much a complete overhaul of the entire site!
Most importantly; however, is the forum conversion from SMF to IPB. InvisionBoard has a lot more to offer, in my opinion, in regards to end user experience, admin control and updates. I think you’ll like the change.
A couple of things previously set up, but not added to the site until now are the Twitter profile and Facebook page. The latest @SacForums tweets will be found at the bottom of the page. These will continue to be integrated into the site as things progress.
Finally, some contests are in the works, so get ready for that. If you are associated with a local business and would like to sponsor a contest, your help would be greatly appreciated!

As part of the upcoming site overhaul planned for SacForums.com, a WordPress blog has been added. This blog will be used to provide site news, updates and announcements. It will also serve as way to showcase featured forum topics and activity.
Once the other new site features are implemented, it will become more clear whether or not the blog will be a permanent feature. I’m anxious to take the new site live and share the updates with Sacramento!
