The 49ers on Wednesday dismissed two defensive assistants, coordinator Billy Davis and line coach Gary Emanuel. Both had been with Mike Nolan since he became head coach early in 2005.
"After an evaluation period, we felt this was the right time to make this move," Nolan said in a statement. "I wish Billy and Gary the very best and I enjoyed our time together. These were tough decisions as they are both great individuals and have the potential to be very successful coaches in this league."
