A parolee has been arrested following a fatal wreck that occurred in Rancho Cordova earlier this week, police said.
Rancho Cordova resident Edwin Lester, 29, turned himself into his parole agent on Wednesday, sheriff's Sgt. Tim Curran said.
Police said Lester was the driver of a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro involved in a three-vehicle crash that took place at 9:43 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Coloma Road and McGregor Drive.
Authorities said Lester fled on foot after the crash, but a passenger in the Camaro died following the wreck.
Officials said Lester was arrested on suspicion of violating the terms of his parole. He was booked into jail and is facing the additional charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run.
Investigators said a 2004 GMC Yukon and a 2002 BMW were traveling west on Coloma Road and had a green light when they entered the intersection at McGregor Drive. They said the Camaro was heading north on McGregor Drive and entered the intersection against a red light.
