A teacher was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of molesting a minor, Rocklin police said Thursday.
Roseville resident James Albert Hirleman, 48, is accused of lewd and lascivious conduct involving a student and was taken to Placer County Jail, where he is being held on $100,000 bail.
Hirleman is a seventh-grade teacher at Buljan Middle School in Roseville.
Lt. Lon Milka said in a news release that the alleged molestation took place in 2001 and 2006.
Milka added that the alleged incidents began when the student was in the seventh or eighth grade.
Police said the person making the allegations only recently came forward to authorities.
The arrest was as a result of information developed from a previous arrest of another person by Rocklin Police and was made through the cooperation of several law enforcement agencies, including Roseville Police Department, the Placer County District Attorney's Office, the Placer County Sheriff's Department and Placer County's special investigation unit, Milka said.
A message left with the administration at Buljan Middle School was not immediately returned.
Hirleman will not be allowed to return to the school until the matter is resolved, officials said.
