Quitting smoking is advantageous at all stages of smoking. Smoking cigarettes poses a great threat to the human body. People seldom realize the dangerous effects of smoking. The advantages of quitting smoking outweigh the pleasures derived by smoking.

As soon as one quits smoking, the circulation improves and hands and feet become warmer. Blood pressure and pulse rate decrease and become normal. Mouth, face and hair stop smelling of smoke. Taste buds and the sense of smell improve. Phlegm production returns to normal and coughing decreases. The energy levels in smokers decreases due to the presence of carbon monoxide and the decrease of oxygen in the blood. The stamina of the quitter improves and energy level increases after quitting. Vision also improves by 15 to 20 percent. The risk of developing diseases like emphysema, heart attacks and cancer of all types are reduced considerably.

The emotional benefits of quitting smoking are that the quitter has an improved self image. He puts himself in charge of his life. He gains a feeling of accomplishment and self respect. After overcoming the withdrawal symptoms the quitter becomes happier and less depressed. Never again does he feel guilty about needing cigarettes.

Personal social benefits include availability of more time for family and friends. The quitter gains an image of self control which is missing in smokers. The smoker is no more a burden on his family due to sickness related to smoking.

The Quit smoking benefits are innumerable. Both men and women experience immediate and significant benefits of quitting smoking. After quitting smoking the body immediately begins to repair the damages and the system returns to normal.

Amen to that. I wish smokers could find a way to stop the nasty habit because it's more than a nasty habit; that second hand smoke kills non-smokers.
