MLS: Real Salt Lake at FC Dallas

Santiago Moreno and Kaick each scored midway through the first half, and Samuel Sarver added a decisive goal in stoppage time, leading FC Dallas to a 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake on Saturday in Frisco, Texas.

Dallas (5-3-4, 19 points) earned consecutive wins for only the second time this season, pulling level on points with Real Salt Lake (6-4-1, 19 points) for sixth place in the Western Conference. RSL have lost three of their last four matches.

Moreno opened the scoring in the 18th minute. He sprinted through traffic to collect a pass from Petar Musa just outside the box, steadied the ball three times, then unleashed a right-footed shot that split two RSL defenders and found the bottom-left corner past goalkeeper Rafael Cabral.

Four minutes later, Musa burst from his own half after receiving a pass from Moreno, dribbled into the box and forced a save from Cabral. Kaick pounced on the rebound and finished into an open net.

Real Salt Lake’s only shot on goal in the first half came in the 33rd minute, when Noel Caliskan curled a left-footed shot from distance toward the upper right corner, but Dallas goalkeeper Michael Collodi leaped to tip it over the crossbar.

In the 85th minute, Diego Luna halved the deficit. He turned on a pass from Morgan Guilavogui and beat Collodi with a right-footed strike into the far corner. Alexandros Katranis also assisted by starting the play with a pass.

That set the stage for Sarver, who entered as a substitute in the 75th minute. Two minutes into stoppage time, he gathered a loose ball deep in his own half, sprinted down the pitch, split two RSL defenders near midfield, shrugged off a tackle from Katranis just outside the box, and calmly slotted past Cabral for the clinching goal.
