Dubai Basketball Club is intensifying its efforts to bring Barcelona head coach Xavier Pascual on board as the team’s new manager, according to journalist Matteo Andreani on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
The report claims that club president Abdulla Al-Nabuda personally spoke with the Spanish tactician last week, aiming to convince him to accept the offer. Furthermore, Dubai is reportedly prepared to pay a €300,000 buyout to release Pascual from his current contract.
Pascual took the helm at Barcelona last November, signing a deal that runs through 2028. Prior to that, he coached Zenit Saint Petersburg from 2020 to 2025.
In a previous update, Andreani also revealed that former Monaco coach Vassilis Spanoulis remains a candidate for the same position at Dubai.
