CSKA’s interim head coach Dmitry Igdisamov has addressed the altercation between goalkeeper Vladislav Torop and teammate Joao Victor during the 29th round of the Russian Premier League against Paris NN. The incident occurred on the 35th minute when the Brazilian aggressively confronted the goalkeeper and grabbed him by the throat. Referee Andrey Prokopov stepped in to separate the players.

“Such moments show that the players care, that they have emotions. During the break, they shook hands—everything that happened on the pitch stays there. I think it was a normal working moment. It’s worse when there’s nothing like that and the players are indifferent. This episode proves the opposite. So I’m actually glad this situation happened at that moment. It gave us an extra boost during the break to eventually turn the game around,” Igdisamov said, as quoted on CSKA’s official website.
CSKA currently sits in fifth place in the Russian championship with 48 points from 29 matches. Paris NN is 15th in the RPL standings, in the direct relegation zone, trailing the playoff spots by three points.
