Marcus McGhee now has a different opponent for UFC Fight Night 278.
Stepping into the bantamweight bout on June 6 is John Yannis, who replaces the injured Jakub Wiklacz. The fight is scheduled to take place at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
Two sources with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the change, speaking on condition of anonymity as the promotion has not yet made an official announcement.
McGhee (10-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) hasn’t fought since a unanimous decision loss to Petr Yan in July. Yan went on to capture the bantamweight title shortly after. Before that setback, McGhee had never lost inside the Octagon. His UFC victories include wins over Journey Newson, JP Buys, Gaston Bolanos, and Jonathan Martinez.
Yannis (10-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) earned his first UFC win on April 18 by knocking out promotional debutant Jamie Siraj in the first round in Winnipeg, Canada. The victory helped the former Fury FC champion rebound from his UFC debut loss to Austin Bashi.
With the change, the UFC Fight Night 278 lineup now includes:
– Belal Muhammad vs. Gabriel Bonfim
– Edgar Chairez vs. Bruno Silva
– Brendan Allen vs. Edmen Shahbazyan
– Marcus McGhee vs. John Yannis
– Iwo Baraniewski vs. Billy Elekana
– Fares Ziam vs. Tom Nolan
– Victor Henry vs. Bryce Mitchell
– Jeisla Chaves vs. Yuneisy Duben
– Joanderson Brito vs. Jordan Leavitt
– Ariane Carnelossi vs. Ketlen Souza
– Imanol Rodriguez vs. Matt Schnell
– Chelsea Chandler vs. Priscila Cachoeira
