Michael Soroka delivered 6 1/3 scoreless innings, Geraldo Perdomo drove in the game’s only run with a double in the first, and the Arizona Diamondbacks edged the Texas Rangers 1-0 on Monday in Arlington.

Soroka (5-2) scattered three singles and struck out five with one walk before exiting with one out in the seventh. The Diamondbacks’ bullpen trio—Paul Sewald, Kevin Ginkel, and Joe Mantiply—preserved the shutout, securing Arizona’s third straight victory. Sewald hit Corey Seager with two outs in the ninth but induced a flyout from Josh Jung to notch his ninth save in as many opportunities. It marked Arizona’s third shutout of the season; they’re now 19-0 when leading after eight innings.
Soroka has allowed more than two runs in just two of his eight starts this season. Perdomo and Nolan Arenado each collected two hits for the Diamondbacks.
Texas managed four hits, all singles, and had won three of their previous five. Jakob Junis (0-1) made a spot start after Nathan Eovaldi was scratched late with left side tightness. Junis allowed the lone run in the first inning.
The Diamondbacks struck first when Corbin Carroll led off with a hustle double to left-center and scored on Perdomo’s double to right. Texas threatened in the bottom of the first after Brandon Nimmo and Ezequiel Duran singled, and a potential double-play grounder was bobbled by second baseman Ketel Marte, loading the bases with no outs. But Soroka struck out Jung and got Evan Carter to ground out, escaping the jam.
Soroka walked Joc Pederson to open the second, then retired 11 straight batters, erasing Pederson on a strikeout-throwout double play to end the inning. The Rangers didn’t get another hit until Kyle Higashioka led off the sixth with a single, but Soroka set down the next three, helped by a running catch from center fielder Ryan Waldschmidt.
Arizona starters have allowed one run or fewer in six of their last seven games and have completed at least six innings in seven straight—the longest active streak in the majors and the team’s first such run since 2017.
